About the Event:
In this conversation, the Rev. Mary Ann Brody, ACPE Certified Educator and Wayne E. Gustafson, DMin, LMHC, and Authorized Trainer in ACPE Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy Training, will explore the intersection between spiritual care and psychotherapy, particularly as they relate to trauma, emotional wellness and healing. After offering some definitions to establish a common language, they will outline differences and similarities between therapy and spiritual care, and finally share teachings from their respective fields that complement each other in holistic care.

About Mary Ann Brody:
MARY ANN BRODY, MDiv, ACPE Certified Educator is a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester and Executive Director of Crossroads of Caring, Inc., a community based Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program in Rochester, NY.  Mary Ann was trained as a spiritual caregiver at URMC, and worked as a CPE educator at Sisters of Charity Hospital before founding the Crossroads program in 2020.  She has also served several Episcopal congregations in the greater Rochester area over the last 20 years.

About Wayne Gustafson:
WAYNE E. GUSTAFSON, DMin, LMHC  has been a Prison Chaplain, Pastoral Counselor, Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Care, Adjunct Faculty in Psychology, and an Interim Parish Minister. He is a retired pastoral psychotherapist (NY-LMHC) and an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Since 2020, he has been an authorized trainer in ACPE Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy, and for many years he has taught pastoral care courses through New York School of Ministry, New York Conference, United Church of Christ. He has published two novels, Community of Promise: The Untold Story of Moses and The Wisdom Weaver (entospress.com). He lives with his wife in an intentional community in Ithaca, New York.
