About the Event:

Join us for an inspiring evening as Rev. Mary Ann Brody and Sue Ouellette, Ph.D. lead a conversation on the intersection of spiritual care and psychotherapy, particularly as they relate to trauma, emotional wellness, and healing. The discussion will introduce shared language, highlight the differences and similarities between therapy and spiritual care, and explore how these approaches can complement one another in holistic care.

About Rev. Mary Ann Brody

Mary Ann is a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester and Executive Director of Crossroads of Caring, Inc., a community-based Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program in Rochester, NY. Mary Ann was trained as a spiritual caregiver at URMC and worked as a CPE educator at Sisters of Charity Hospital before founding the Crossroads program in 2020. She has also served several Episcopal congregations in the greater Rochester area over the last 20 years.

About Sue Ouellette, Ph.D.

Sue Ouellette is a chaplain at the University of Rochester Medical Center and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in NY. She earned a Ph.D. in Communication from Kent State University and her M.Div. from Colgate Rochester Crozier School of Divinity. She is a Professor Emeritus of Northern Illinois University, where she taught for 35 years and served as chair of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Allied Health. As a chaplain, she serves individuals with chronic neurological illnesses as part of the Neurology Supportive and Palliative Care team at URMC. She also owns a private practice in Brighton where she sees individuals, couples, and families, and specializes in chronic illness and disability.
